NC Central’s Bella Dearinger earns third MEAC Setter of the Week honors

NORFOLK, Va. – Junior Bella Dearinger posted 43 assists and 11 digs for the North Carolina Central University volleyball team in Friday’s 3-1 Senior Night victory over South Carolina State University to collect her third MEAC Volleyball Setter of the Week award of the season as announced by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference on Monday, Nov. 13.
 
Dearinger netted her eighth double-double of the season as NCCU finished its regular season with a victory. Dearinger tallied 43 assists as the Eagles hit .211 in the triumph.
 
The Muncie, Indiana, resident has reached 40-plus assists in seven matches this season and double-digit assists in all but one of NCCU’s matches this season.
 
Dearinger also had two kills and one ace in NCCU’s only match of the week and she averaging 10.8 assists and 2.8 assists per set on the week.
 
On the season, Dearinger is averaging 7.28 assists and 2.05 digs per set. Dearinger ranks fourth in the MEAC in assists per set and is second on the team in digs per set.
 
Dearinger has earned three MEAC Setter of the Week awards in 2023 (Oct. 16, Nov. 6, Nov. 13).
 
NC Central will next play in the 2023 MEAC Volleyball Championship hosted by Delaware State University on Friday-Sunday, Nov. 17-19. The sixth-seeded Eagles will begin play in the quarterfinals against third-seeded host Hornets on Friday at 8:30 p.m
